Baccaurea motleyana - Buah Rambai

"New friends are like unripe fruits, some turn into oranges others into lemons." - Unknown Author.

Back to the topic on hand, below is the pictures of unripe Baccaurea motleyana fruits, locally known as Buah Rambai. In Thailand, it is called mafai-farang. Each fruit has velvety pinkish, yellow, or brown skin which wrinkles at ripening and is filled with whitish pulp containing 3 to 5 seeds. The pulp is sweet to acid in taste. They may be eaten raw or cooked or made into jam or wine.

  2. Nice article in which I discover this fruit!
It does come in bundles, otherwise it would remind me of the Marula fruit... in Africa!!
    Cheers!
