Photo of Morinda citrifolia fruits (or Mengkudu in Bahasa Malaysia) which not long time ago, it's phytochemicals properties were associated with anti-cancer. Morinda tinctoria is also known as Aal or Indian Mulberry.
M. citrifolia fruit powder is high in carbohydrates and dietary fibre.
The green fruit, leaves and the root/rhizome were traditionally used to treat menstrual cramps, bowel irregularities, used to treat diabetes, liver diseases and urinary tract infections. There have been recent applications for the use of M. citrifolia seed oil which contains linoleic acid possibly useful when applied topically to skin, e.g., anti-inflammation, acne reduction, moisture retention.
Despite the medicinal hype, M. citrifolia has been evaluated unsuccessfully in preliminary clinical trials for possible use in treating cancer.
